He is one director who has managed to remain unscathed amid the crisis of credibility confronting the banner of Yashraj Films following the failure of some of their recent ventures like 'Tara Rum Pum', 'Laga Chunari Mein Daag', 'Jhoom Barabar Jhoom', 'Aaja Nachle' and 'Tashan'.

Even as the Yashraj productions helmed by other directors over the last few years failed to draw in audiences to the theatres, Kunal Kohli has managed to strike gold at the box office with his fresh and innovative films like 'Hum Tum' and 'Fanaa', each of them dealing with themes and subjects ''different from the run of the mill''.

Now, two years after the Aamir - Kajol starrer 'Fanaa' set the box office on fire, Kunal is ready with his fourth film 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic', dealing with the story about an angel spreading love and happiness in the life of a business tycoon and four orphans.

And, like his earlier film, this time too, the filmmaker is confident that his latest film would strike a chord with the audience with its fresh and ''different-from-the-tried and tested'' story.

''I believe that audience today is more discerning and intelligent than, say, about a decade ago. They will no longer settle for the "run-of-the-mill" storylines but want to be offered something different all the time.

''Which is why, all through my career, from my first film 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' to my latest 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic', I have never stuck to one particular genre, '' Kunal said on the eve of the release of 'Thoda Pyar Thoda magic', which hits theatres worldwide today.

Kunal said that whether it was 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge', 'Hum Tum', 'Fanaa' or 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic', all his films belonged to different genres - they were all completely different from each other.

''You can't take one costume of one film of mine and place it into another because it won't fit. Similarly, one cannot take a song from one of my films and place it into another. In fact, I have experimented with different genres in each of my four films because I feel there is no safe film any more.

''For example, today it is really unusual to make a film like 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic', which is about a person who has never got love, an angel who cannot love and four orphans who need love.

Today, you make a film like this because you know the audience want and expect something different from you and I have tried to give that with each film I have made so far.'' 'Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic' is Kunal's second film with Saif.

''Working with Saif is special. The first time, we came together in 'Hum Tum', both of us and, for that matter, even Rani, had yet to establish ourselves in the industry.

While I had an unsuccessful 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' behind me, Saif was still to establish a niche for himself. Rani too won the best actress award for the first time only for 'Hum Tum'.

Now, when we came together for 'TPTM', I had two successful films behind me, Saif had established a niche for himself and Rani had won a host of awards for films like 'Black' and 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'.

So, the first day of the shoot for the film did not seem to be the first. there was an air of camaraderie on the sets, '' Kunal says.
