While DHOOM DADAKKA was an all in all failure where hardly any actor could come up with a decent act (including Sameer himself), one could still find an excuse in the fact that the film's script itself didn't allow anyone to behave normally. Yes, Sameer did try hard to get into the comedy groove but failed miserably, as did his co-star Shaad Randhawa.
Still, not all is lost for Sameer since the promotion of MUKHBIIR has begun and apparently features him in an author backed role. In the film he plays the role of an informer who finds himself in the midst of a global conspiracy that he couldn't have bargained for in his wildest of dreams.
As an actor, he gets an opportunity to sink his teeth into a character that requires him to demonstrate a wide range of emotions.
Though Sameer doesn't quite have a repertoire of performances to boast of in his 4 year Bollywood career, the closest he came to being acknowledged for a decent act was in Vikram Bhatt's LIFE MEIN KABHI KABHI where he played a youth leader.
Apart from that, he has been seen in a blink and you would miss performance in CORPORATE while movies like his debut vehicle UUF KYA JADOO MOHABBAT HAI and PYAAR MEIN TWIST went completely noticed.
Now is the time when the release of MUKHBIIR may turn around the fortunes of Sameer who has got an opportunity to share platform with actors like Om Puri, Suneil Shetty, Jackie Shroff and Sushant Singh. Directed by Mani Shankar who has been appreciated for his technical finesse in 16 DECEMBER earlier, MUKHBIIR features Raima Sen as the leading lady opposite Sameer.
In the coming months, Sameer would also be seen in long delayed MARATHON which has been lying in the cans for over a year and LOVE KA TADKA where he has Nauheed Cyrusi for company. Joginder Tuteja
