Filmmaker Farhan Akhtar who makes his debut as an actor in 'Rock On!!' releasing next month says that acting is thoroughly enjoyable.

"When people have been wondering as to why I chose to act despite a good run as producer-director, I ask --- why not?" Farhan told reporters after the music launch of the film last night.

Apart from being a writer, director and producer, the film 'Rock On!!' will see farhan as a actor-singer as well.

Speaking about his new avatar as singer, Farhan said he plays a rockstar in the film and the director Abhishek Kapoor had wanted the actor playing the role to sing the songs himself.

"We tried out my singing and felt that it was turning out well, " Farhan who is producing the film said.

He said filmmaking, acting and singing offers satisfaction at different levels. "But, one thing is sure that I will never give up direction, " he added.

Farhan said he was influenced by Beatles as a kid. "Singing was an exhilarating experience. I always dreamt of singing and in the film, I am actually doing it, " he added.

The music of the film was launched by lyricist Javed Akhtar at a suburban mall after a live band show by Farhan.

Since he is not a practicising musician, Farhan said singer-composer Shankar Mahadevan who have given music to 'Rock On!!' has been his guru in singing.

Farhan feels 'Rock On!!' which explores a genre of music is rarely exploited in films.

Farhan said his directorial film 'Voice from the Sky' will go on floors this November. He will also direct another film called 'Luck By Chance.'
