After last year's fierce "musical contest", the battle between Zee and Star to unveil the best musical prodigies from India and the world is all set to be revisited on television this summer.

The best of 'musical voices' in the country and abroad will again reverberate on the small screen with both Zee TV and Star Plus launching another edition of their musical talent hunt shows - 'Sa Re Ga Ma Vishwayudh' and 'Voice of India' - which had last year given to the country musical talents like Raja Hasan, Vineet, Ishmit Singh Sodhi, Harshit Saxena, Abhaas Joshi, Irfan Khan and Toshi.

Shortly after the recent launch on Zee TV of the second edition of the 'Sa Re Ga Ma Vishwayudh', Star Plus is also set to launch another edition of its popular musical talent hunt show 'Voice of India' from July 18.

The shows, which last year provided many a budding singer from India and abroad the ultimate platform to showcase their potential and thereby realise their dream of becoming a singer, are this year being presented on a bigger and larger scale.

While Zee's 'SaRe Ga Ma Vishwayudh 2' brings to the fore several talented singers from India, Pakistan, US and the U K mentored by renowned music directors Pritam, Shankar Mahadevan, Himesh Reshammiya and Aadesh Srivastava, 'Voice of India 2' has shortlisted as its 24 best singers from across the country.

While last year's edition of Zee's 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' took the musical contest across the national borders, this year's edition, which kickstarted from July 4, takes the challenge to yet another level.

The show will have 32 contestants from Pakistan, UK, Australia, West Asia and, of course, India, battle it out for the coveted title.

All the contestants, selected from across five regions and 25 countries, will compete with each other under the guidance of the four mentors- music director Adesh Srivastava representing Jai Gharana, Dhoom Gharana's Pritam Chakraborty, Shankar Mahadevan from Lakshay Gharana and Himesh Reshammiya in a new avtaar who retains the mentorship of Rock Gharana.

Talking about 'Sa Re Ga Ma Vishwayudh 2', Business Head, Zee TV, Tarun Mehra said, ''Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has set a benchmark over the number of years, a benchmark that is synonymous with the best in music.

The contestants who participate are considered absolutely ready to take up singing as their career once they leave the competition.

Even people from the music fraternity have acknowledged that the talent and quality here is unmatched. Like last year, this year too we have contestants from all over the world making it in every sense a real 'Vishwayudh'.''

The show is being hosted by the popular Aditya Narayan, who hosted year's edition of the show. Incidentally, veteran playback singer Asha Bhonsle will be the 'Mahaguru' for the first few round of episodes on the show.

On the other hand, Star Plus has for its show 'Voice of India 2', handpicked 24 refreshing voices from 24 states across the nation, who will vie for the coveted title 'Amul Star Voice Of India-2'.

Judging the 24 finalists in their battle to select the 'Star Voice of India 2' will be an esteemed panel of judges including musical genius Monty Sharma, who earned accolades for his melodious tunes for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Saawariya', singer Sukhwinder Singh and Music director Ismail Darbar'.

''These 24 talented singing from 24 different states will make 'Star Voice Of India-2' a kaleidoscope of different colors, traditions, singing styles since all these young participants will bring in something unique to the show.

This is their ultimate chance to make their Janmabhoomi proud of what they achieve in their karmabhoomi-The Amul Star Voice of India platform, ''channel sources said.

The show, to be aired on Friday and Saturdays at 10 pm, will be hosted by the prodigious and talented singer Shaan.

According to Anupama Mandloi, Senior Creative Director Star Plus, ''Amul Star Voice of India-2' aims to showcase the biggest singing talent from India.

After the unparalleled success of the first season; we promise to offer a combination of great singing talent and entertainment to our viewers with the second season of Amul Star Voice of India.''

While the elimination of contestants in the run up to the final will be based 50 per cent on the judges marking and 50 per cent on public voting, the finals will be based on voting will be 100 per cent public.
