When we called up Prachi to confirm the news, she seemed all excited. "Yaaa...it's true that I have sung for a song in Rock On. In fact since yesterday, everyone has been asking me about this. It seems to have become big news already", laughs the chirpy actress.
We asked her, how did this all happen and Prachi indeed had quite a funny story to narrate, "One fine day when I was shooting for Kasamh Se, I got a call from Abhishek asking me to come to a studio.
I thought it may just be for a script reading session or discussing something about my role in the film. When I reached the venue, it was a music recording studio and I wondered if I have come to the wrong place.
I just went in and I was made to listen to a song. The next thing I knew was that, Abhishek wanted to me to sing a few lines in the song. Although I was told that my character may have to sing a few lines for the film, I didn't know it would happen so soon.
I am not a trained singer; however, I must say that things went pretty well and I could finish my part in a matter of few minutes"
So how come her name doesn't feature in the list of singers on the Audio CD? "See, the song which I have sung is not there in the audio CD. Its not a full song, hence doesn't feature in the CD. However, the song will be there in the film"
The songs of Rock On have indeed caught on big time, especially among the youth. So which is Prachi's favorite number from the film?
"Since it's my first film, I am really crazy about all the songs of Rock On. I am only listening to the songs of Rock On in my car. What's more, I even snatch some of my friends' cell phones and put Rock On as their caller tune.
If you ask me to pick my favorite number from Rock On, I really like the two female numbers 'Phir Dekhi' and 'Yeh Tumhari Meri Baatein'.
The teaser of the latter song is currently on air and you can really unwind when listening to this song, be it at home, at work or even while in your car. It's a very feel good and soft song."
So what does she think of co-star Farhan as a singer, "All the songs which Farhan has sung are simply unbelievable. I can't believe he has actually sung 6 songs in the film. There is a really slow number sung by him called 'Tum Ho Toh' which is simply amazing.
While shooting, even before I heard the two female songs, this was the song which I heard first and I simply couldn't get it off my head. Even the song 'Pichle Saat Dinon Mein Maine Khoya' is so relatable to the youth.
But I guess the two songs which have really caught on are the title track and 'Socha Hai'", says the vivacious actress.
Finally, with less than a month to go for the release of her maiden film, what's Prachi feeling like? "I am excited and nervous both." says Prachi, with her trademark smile.
