While the cricketers presented a cheque of Rs.500, 000 to the winners, the runners-up got Rs.250, 000 as prize money. The grand finale of the song and dance competition between children from small towns and metros was held at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) Saturday evening.
Deepak Tirkey and Nishtha Nag Chaudhury of the team of small towners 'Desi Dhuranders' were declared the winners after battling it out with Varun Sohal and Loria Doshi of 'Metro Rockers', the city kids, for 18 weeks. The show was aired on 9X channel.
While Deepak is from Ranchi, Nishtha belongs to Udaipur. Varun and Loria are from Ludhiana and Jaipur, respectively.
Both the teams also won a chance to visit Disneyland with their families and an additional cash prize of Rs.25, 000 from apparel store Gini and Jonny.
The event was attended by a host of Bollywood personalities like playback singer Kumar Sanu, music composers Jatin, Salim and Sulaiman, choreographer Ganesh Achariya and actress Raveena Tandon.
It was hosted by Bhojpuri actor-singer Manoj Tiwari and actress Roshni Chopra.
9X now plans to launch a new show on the same lines of competition between people of small towns and metros for adults titled 'Shaher Di Kudiye-Gali De Munde'. While girls will represent the metros, guys will play people of small towns.
