Chandigarh is all set to pay tribute to evergreen Bollywood star Dev Anand by hosting a festival of his films here from Aug 16.

Titled Evergreen Dev Anand Film Festival, it is being organised by the department of tourism, Chandigarh and Delhi-based Millionaires Trust. Four of Dev Anand's hits -- "Guide", "Hare Rama Hare Krishna", "Jewel Thief" and "Des Pardes" -- will be showcased.

"This is a salute to the great artiste's contribution to Indian cinema. We already had an encouraging response during our previous film festivals. We are planning the next annual film festival in Feb 2009, " said Vivek Atray, director, public relations and tourism, Chandigarh, Wednesday.

Naveen Sharma, one of the trustees of Millionaires trust, told: "Dev Anand has sent his best wishes for the festival. He can't come for the event as he is busy with his forthcoming movie 'Chargesheet' in Mumbai.

"Dev Anand was amazed to see his fan following in this city when he came here last time. The movies that we are showing in the festival are the favourites of Dev Anand and have been selected by him only.

"We are conducting this festival on a no-profit basis and are giving complimentary passes to all the interested moviegoers. We are also planning to offer free cold drinks and snacks to the audience, " added Sharma.

The screening will take place at the Government museum in Sector 10.
