Several films on that dark day from the metro's bustling existence including Nishikant Kamat's Mumbai Meri Jaan and Neeraj Pandey's Wednesday are being readied.
If all had gone well Suniel Shetty's Popcorn Entertainment would've been out with their 7/11 film entitled Little Godfather.
"This film is our tribute to the brave people Mumbai who stood up to the extreme attack of terrorism on 7/11 and emerged almost unscathed. We really wanted Little Godfather to be released to coincide with 7/11.
But the film stars a bunch of completely new faces and they need more time to get into character than experienced actors. Finally we decided not to rush it. There was no point.
The film has 8 -9 new young actors, all straight from the streets and trained by my director Joy Augustine through intense workshops. The film needs rigorous promotion because it's got no stars. But every one of those 8-9 faces is a potential star, " says Suniel proudly adding that he has always been fond of promoting new talent.
Another big plan for 7/11 which fell through was Mission Istanbul. If Suniel Shetty had his way he would've released Mission Istanbul on schedule on July 11.
"It's a film on international terrorism and we wanted it out in the week of 7/11 when the train blasts shook place in Mumbai. But then the post-production took longer than we expected.
The delay had nothing to do with the two extra songs we shot with Abhishek and Viviek Oberoi.Nor was it because Viviek is unhappy with the promotions. What rubbish.
Viveik wasn't that prominently featured in the promos because he didn't have any songs to sing in the film. Now that we've shot a music video with him Viveik will be visible on the channels. Mission Istanbul is going to turn Viviek into a superstar, " predicts Suniel.
Suniel himself has a brief role in Mission Istanbul. "I play a guy who scarifices his life for a cause. My roles comes on at the very beginning. That's it.
I can't do both at the same time. I feature in the cast only because Apu insisted. Otherwise I'd prefer to keep my roles as producer and actor separate."
