Raveena seems to have donned the deglam look almost permanently. She made quite a sensation in her first film, Pathar Ke Phool playing the hip college girl. Followed by jazzy roles and even jazzier item numbers, this Sheher ki ladki has finally grown up.
Starting the trend with Shool, where she played the wife of an honest police inspector clad in saree, plaited hair, tikka et al, she shed her oh-so-glamorous-image and proved that she was an actress of substance. Then came Daman, where she played the victim of marital rape, which got her the much deserved National award. Looking stunning as ever in the Mahabharata inspired, Agnivarsha, she left the audience gaping at her in awe. Continuing the trend, the cheez badi hai mast girl will now be seen in mature and meatier roles looking as beautiful without dollops of the golden goop.
Her forthcoming film, Tareekh, by critic-turned-filmmaker Khalid Mohammed is something to look forward to.Stiff competiton for Tabu, when it comes to, both, the audience and the awards.
