The film, which is an action thriller, is still in the scripting stages. However, Rohit has already decided that the main protagonist will be played by none other than his own brother, Ronit Roy.
We spoke to Rohit to get some more details on the film and his future projects. "It's too early to talk about the film, but yes I am producing a film (an action thriller) which will star Ronit in the central role. The rest of the cast and director are yet to be finalized. We are still working on the script."
So what made him cast Ronit who is a superstar in T.V. but hasn't really clicked in films? "See Ronit actually started out with films but somehow his films didn't do well and he came to television.
In television, the amount of success that he has achieved is known to one and all. However for me, what is more satisfying is the amount of growth that I have seen in him as an actor over the years. He is one of the few actors whose potential has not been fully realized.
Secondly, it's not because that he is my brother that he is in the film. He fits the character perfectly and hence I decided to cast him", says Rohit with a smile.
So will he also share screen place with bade bhaiyya in the film?
"I really don't know yaar. I would like to concentrate on showcasing Ronit in the right way. However, if there is a role for me, I would think about it.
In fact, in the last 6- 8 months a lot of people have been approaching me to do a film with Ronit but we will work together only if there is something splendid for both of us."
So after the critical acclaim that he got for his short story Rice Plate in Dus Kahaniyaan, what's next as far as directing is concerned?
"I am working on my next which is an action film. It will be produced by Sanjay Gupta's White Feather Films. I am also committed to do a film with Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Films" And finally what's happening on the acting front, "My next film as an actor would be Mittal v/s Mittal alongside Rituparna Sengupta.
It's a film that I am really looking forward to as it deals with a sensitive issue like marital rape. It's a completely untouched topic which hasn't been yet witnessed on the big screen. I have put my heart and soul into the film. It should be out later this year.
Besides this, I also have Sanjay Gupta's Alibaug which should be out early next year", signs off Rohit.
