Horror is perhaps one of the least explored subject areas in Bollywood but recently there has been a sudden interest in the genre. This is possibly because of the unexpected success of supernatural thriller Raaz. So, whether its Ram Gopal Verma's Bhoot or the Jackie Shroff starrer 88 Antop Hill, it looks like horror is Bollywood's latest novelty.

Quest Films' Sandhya is set to be the first in line to release. It tells the story of Dr. Singhania (Ashutosh Rana) runs a mental institution. His family are ruthlessly murdered, which leads him to lose his mind and sanity. He is ironically admitted to his very own institution and remains a patient there until he appears to have recovered. After his release he decides to renovate his house into a nursing home, naming it "Sandhya".

It doesn't take too long for the doctor to suffer the absence of his family and he becomes more depressed as the anniversary of his family's death gets closer. He bizarrely decides that the only way he can relinquish his pain is if he is murdered. Enter Jaggu (Jackie Shroff). Dr. Singhania hires Jaggu to murder him on the anniversary of his family's death. Soon comes the day of the murder and with everything in place there seems to be nothing that could go wrong. Only this planned murder has something else in store for Jaggu. He is trapped in an unprecedented web of deceit and he soon realises that something terrible is about to happen on this, appropriately titled, Sandhya.

First time director, Sangeeth Sivan, brother of Santosh Sivan, directs the film while Jackie's wife Ayesha Shroff joins hands with hubby to produce under the Quest Films banner. Sandhya is slated to release in October.
