Spending long time in Bollywood, Upasana looks pretty happy with her career and the humble being, as she is, gives all the credits to the god only. Let's know how Rajnee Gupta shared few moments with Upasana to know about her film My Friend Ganesha 2 and, of course, little more...
Q. How are you promoting the god Ganesha in My Friend Ganesha 2?
A. Well, I am playing the character of Gangu Taee in this film. She is the storyteller who describes how Ganesha is a great god. I had the same character in the previous part of the film also.
It was a successful film at the box office and I pray to god that he makes this part also a great hit. Gangu and Ganesha are two common factors in this part of the series. The film has been credited as the first film being shot in Siddhivinayak temple.
Q. How are you blessed with god's grace in your real life?
A. In my real life I find Ganesha as my parmatma. I have spent almost sixteen or seventeen years in this industry. Truly saying, in those days, I used to feel like I can talk to the god.
Besides, I experienced many other cases in my life that proved how god has been with me all the while. I still can remember the day when my mother was very ill. Doctor warned me that she would die if I fail to take her to the hospital.
But I prayed to the god and found how my mother became well even before taking her to the hospital.
Q. You were working in one of Aruna Irani show also. What about that TV series?
A. I quitted the show because of the change in track of the show. I didn't like it. At my stage of career I cannot look for money only. I rather would be happy doing some interesting character.
Q. Which kind of characters do satisfy you the most?
A. Take for example, my character in the film ‘My Friend Ganesha'. It's of an actress. That character makes people laugh, people cry with her, she fights and then dances, too. It attracts me a lot. And besides all, it's a character which is not easy to portray.
Q. You have played all kind of characters. Which do you like the most among them?
A. I like comic characters the most. I personally feel that I am really good with comedies. And at the same time I like emotional characters also.
Q. But most people find you negative only.
A. Yeah, it's true. Except in few Hindi films and serials I have portrayed negative characters only. I have won the best actress in negative role for one of my characters in Bhojpuri films. Albeit most people think that I appear better in negative shades, I personally don't feel free in negative characters.
Q. Why so?
A. Because, I think, I don't a face to carry on with negative characters. I have to work harder for such characters and I have to find out the best angles to showcase myself negative. And I don't like it at all.
Q. Please tell us about your forthcoming films.
A. There are Priyadarshan's "Chal Chala Chal", Sangit Sivan's "Ek, The Power of One", "Dard-E-Disco" and a Tips' film "To Baat Pakki". All the films except "Ek, The Power of One" are comedies. I am playing Govinda's sister in "Chal Chala Chal".
I am among the stars like Tabu, Yuvika Chaudhary, Vatsal Seth, Sushant Singh and Sharad Saxena in "To Baat Pakki". Besides, I am working for TV series named "Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat" and "Pari Hoon Main". - Rajnee Gupta
