Jackie Shroff is all set for a major change. Apparently, the actor has had enough of facing the camera and screen roles to sink into! He is seriously contemplating a switch to direction. The never-say-die Jaggu Dada is now looking at scripts which would "charge him to wield the megaphone". Never mind, if his venture into production is yet to yield results.
His decision is bound to be a welcome relief from having to sit through films of directors with dubious background who have had nothing to do with cinema earlier. But nevertheless they manage to do a brief stint as assistants to some directors to qualify as independent film makers." The twenty odd years run in the industry has made me experienced enough to try out direction now," says the 40-plus actor. He is lucky because with mentor Subhash Ghai he got to learn the ropes on the sets of the eight films he has done with him.
Shroff is pretty amazed at the way wife Ayesha handles production and how their under production Boom, has been a smooth flow with a start to finish schedule for a December 2002 release. Boom, is a casting coup with the Big B, Naseeruddin Shah, Zeenat Aman, Hollywood`s Bo Derek, Madhu Sapre, Padma Lakshmi of Salman Rushdie fame, super model, Katrina Kaif and Jackie in the lead. "The most harrowing thing is to coordinate dates, the rest follows."
