Now this is clearly unprecedented. Never before can one remember an instance of a film's print being transported from one venue to another due to heavy demand amongst audience.

However, this has indeed happened in case of A WEDNESDAY which saw such a huge turnaround of crowds that the theater authorities had to pronto take action and move the film to another theater next door.

This happened yesterday for 9:00 PM show in Mumbai where the film was running at Galaxy theater. This single screen theater is situated in a complex where Gaiety and Gemini are also co-located. Galaxy comes with occupancy of around 700 people whereas Gaiety is bigger as it can accommodate around 1100 people.

So huge was the demand for A WEDNESDAY that Galaxy, which was showing houseful board, had to move the print of the film to Gaiety so that they could keep the heavy crowd under control. HIJACK, which was running in Gaiety, was immediately shifted to Galaxy.

Confirms Anjum Rizvi, one of the producers of A WEDNESDAY, "Yes, what you hear is indeed true. I was informed by the theater authorities late in the night that they had to take this step due to huge demand for the film.

They couldn't send back hundreds of people who were patiently waiting to catch the last show of the film. They didn't have any choice but to request the theater next door to swap the prints."

Jimmy Sheirgill continues to be elated with the response to the film, "I have always maintained that this is one film which would continue to grow with every passing week.

Imagine people turning out at a single screen theater in the middle of the week for the night show and getting the house full board on. We continue talking about a particular film being made for multiplexes or only urban centers.

I am glad that A WEDNESDAY is breaking that myth. It is working across single screens and multiplexes, in A, B as well as C centers. That's the hallmark of a quality product."

On a parting note, he adds, "This one is truly a film of the people, for the people and of course by the people. The reasons behind the film's immense popularity is the fact that every countryman is able to relate to it's theme. Neeraj Pandey's execution has only made it simpler for all us to get the message and also be entertained."

As per reports from the makers, this small budgeted film has already made close to 2.5 crore from the opening weekend.

With the kind of response that the film is generating, it won't be surprising if it touches 5 crores at the end of first week. Stay tuned as we bring you further updates about this small film which is en route to turning into a big success. - Joginder Tuteja.
