In certain cases, sequels are announced even before the release of a film but if a movie actually turns out to be a box office success, as has been the case with a fortnight old Rock On, it is considered nothing less than a sacrilege if the makers do not come up with plans for a sequel.
The same has happened in case of Rock On as well where the makers have been inundated with calls enquiring them about Rock On moving on to its next installment.
"Yes, I have been told about this by a few people as well but let me state on record that as of now there are no plans for Rock On 2", says writer-director Abhishek Kapoor, who is the man behind the film which is fast gathering cult status for itself, "I am in fact not in a mood to think something like that at all. Let the success of the film sink in first; I will think about sequel or my next movie only after a few weeks."
The movie has turned into a success. Now with more or less an open month ahead with biggies like Drona and Kidnap arriving only on 2nd October, how far does he foresee Rock On going?
Laughs Abhishek, "Now that the movie is a hit, I would want it to go to the moon. Frankly, I am not having a number in mind which I would want Rock On to achieve.
At the moment, all of us out here are neck deep into promoting the film at numerous cities. We are holding concerts, meeting press, interacting with people, participating in screenings - the stuff, you know!
It is a 24X7 job and guess what, all of out here from the Rock On are going all out with the film and having fun."
He seems to be really partying hard. "And I don't feel guilty about it", he smiles, 'It was nothing short of being a 'banwaas' for me over the years. Uff Yeh Mohabbat, which had me in a lead role opposite Twinkle Khanna, had released 12 years back. Now that I am seeing success, I want to enjoy every moment of it."
