Irrfan Khan and Rahul Bose both swapped their roles in director Anil Senior Sharma's forthcoming venture Bubblegum.

The urban comedy was originally planned with Irrfan in the role of a lecturer in a media school and Rahul playing an investment banker and showcased their respective relationships with Konkona Sen Sharma and Soha Ali Khan starring along with them.

Debutante director Anil Senior Sharma, told us, "Before had gone to narrate the script to both these actors – Irrfan and Rahul I already had them both in mind from the time I was working on it. I first met Irrfan who found the script interesting and told me he liked both my male lead characters."

"Then when I met Rahul and throughout my narration he kept asking me more about the other character that goes by the name of Rishi for whom I had Irrfan in mind.

After my narration Rahul told me he would like to do Rishi's character as it was more dramatic and he had not done something like this before. But, I was very skeptical about it. I told him I would get back to him soon." Anil added

"I then again met Irrfan Khan who was to perform the role of Rishi and told him that Rahul was keen on this role. Hearing this, Irrfan immediately burst out laughing.

He said he was keen to play the character of Samit, an investment banker and was thinking of telling me the same. Irfan felt that he had never done an understated role before. Then we all sat together and mutually decided to swap roles.

We have been shooting for a week now and I am wondering why I didn't cast them in these roles earlier. They are simply brilliant in their respective characters. What is more interesting is that Soha Ali Khan and Irrfan Khan will be seen together for the first time.

She works for a high profile beauty clinic. Rahul and Konkana have already worked together and are comfortable with each other." Anil concludes.
