The President is Coming stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Shernaz Patel, Ira Dubey, Anand Tiwari and Shivani Tanksale in prominent roles and is directed by Kunal Roy Kapoor.
We got in touch with Rohan Sippy to get some more details on this project. "The President Is Coming is a comedy based on a play of the same name. It's about the incidents which took place around the time when George Bush visited India and wanted to shake hands with a young Indian.
The film looks at the how the search and selection of that young Indian took place. The film is directed by Kunal Roy Kapoor, who also directed the play."
The 90 minute odd film is mainly in English, so is it targeted at a niche audience? "Yes, the film is meant for audiences who will enjoy this kind of humor. About 80-85 % of the film is in English, " says Rohan.
So how much of the film is left and when do the makers plan to release it? "The film is complete. It is right now in the final stages of post-production. As for the release, I would like to release it right around the time the American elections take place which is in November this year. We are just trying to figuring out if we get a good date amidst all the big releases."
And finally when do we get to see this talented filmmaker don the director's hat again. "Well, I hope it will be very soon (laughs). Getting a film started can be a tricky business. I have a script in mind and am moving towards it. Hopefully, I can start early next year, " signs off Rohan.
