Ram, one of the most acclaimed and portrayed character from Indian epics will soon be even more famous through the new show of Maya Entertainment.

But Chetan Desai, the director of the film, reveals that Ram in his film is not the god but a character that rises with his own efforts and becomes a hero. Let's have a look at how he thinks about his upcoming flick Ramayan.

Q. What's new in your Ramayan?
A. (Smiling) Why should you go to the theater if I reveal the secrets? Seeing the promos of my film you must have realized that we have tried to make Ramayan on a larger scale and with better quality. Inspite of being an animated film you would easily be able to relate to the characters and according to me, this is the USP of the film

Q. Films for kids can be made on many other topics then why did you choose Ramayan?
A. This is my first film and if I get a chance in the future then I would like to make many more films which children can enjoy.

Q. You had said that you were dissatisfied with the previous films made on this epic and that's why you chose to make Ramayan in your own way...
A. Taking into consideration, the story-telling, sound and technique, I haven't liked any of the previous films made on Ramayan. The first movie made on Ramayan was a 2D animated film. This would be the first film with 3D effect. Adding to it we have paid special attention to the lightening and costumes. Embroidery has been done on each character's costume. We did a lot of research from old literature before planning everything.

Q. Ramayan in English sounds as Ramayana, which has no meaning at all. Even you have chosen the English word for your film?
A. See, these are the grammatical differences between the two languages. Like in Hindi one spell Ram while in English it's spelled as Rama.

Q. So, do you want to impress the international audience by spelling your word as per English language?
A. I would like to make it clear that our Ramayan is been made in Hindi. I don't have any intention to impress the international viewers instead I want to impress everyone who views my film and more importantly my target is children between 8 to 18 years of age. And also, I would like to impress those who like Ram and believes in him.

Q. If you wanted to fulfill your dreams then why did you chose to make an animated version rather than making a film with a big starcast?
A. I wouldn't like to comment that I am a super expert in animation but whatever experience I have is related to it.

Q. Haven't you opted for animation as the history proves that films made on epics haven't done well at the box office?
A. It's not like that. The fact is that very few films have been made on epics, so one can't judge there failures or success counting on those past films.

Q. Through Ramayan you are planning to show Ram as the role model but according to some people even Ram had committed some mistakes like he left Sita alone in the jungle at the time when she was pregnant?
A. See, in our film we haven't projected Ram as an Avtaar. Being a prince he was bought up in the princely atmosphere with all the luxuries around. He was also thought the skill of fighting after which he was sent for a vanvaas.

In this long span of fourteen years with his honesty, hard work and right decisions, he got everything for which he is known for. Through Ramayan I am not trying to show a God's story but the story of a man who became a hero. - Rajnee Gupta
