Singer turned actor Abhijit Sawant in his first film Lottery plays the role of a simple accountant who works for fashion magazine.

Q.You had to really work hard to prove yourself in singing, now what about your acting?
A.Look currently my aim is to be accepted by the viewers as an actor. The specialty of this film is that the role is very similar to me in my real life, thats the plus point I have got.

Q.Have you made any preparations before entering into this field of acting?
A.Till date all the acting classes that I took where with the dialogues and the story so I have everything by heart. That's why when I entered the sets I had no difficulty at all.

Q.From whom did you take your acting tuitions?
A.My director Hemant Prabhu has trained me for my acting.

Q.Don't you think that it is necessary to take professional training in acting before you enter Bollywood?
A.Honestly speaking I always wanted to take a training in acting, in fact I even spoke to my director Hemant Prabhu about this But he convinced me by saying that the type of character I would be playing is actually a very simple and common man just like me in real life.

He also said that if I was still interested in learning to act then I could go ahead and do it but he personally felt that if I remain natural then it would be perfect for the film.

Q.Luck has played a major role in your career of singing and becoming the Indian Idol but who has inspired you for acting?
A.I agree to what you say but very few know that as soon as I won Indian Idol I was offered a couple of films. But all the characters offered were of stunt boys or the macho man types. Which I just don't fit into. Coincidently the type of character which I felt I could do the best was offered to me in this film.

Q.So that means we will not see you as a typical Hindi film hero?
A.It all depends on the director as to what kind of a role he would like to fit me into. I always believe that the film belongs to the director more than the actor.

Q.Is this film inspired by Rajeev Khandelwal's film Amir?
A.No.Aamir is a dark and serous film which my film is not. We've been working on this almost one and half years before Amir even started so my film has nothing to do with Amir.

Q.Aamir was a big hit, what are your expectations about your film?
A.I strongly believe that the success of the film is no more dependent on a big star cast. The viewers are willingly accepting and appreciating new comers as well. And I also feel that if the story is gripping enough then the viewers will definitely give it a try.

Q.Other than this are there anymore projects coming up?
A.Yes, a discussion on a serious project once again is going on.

Q.What kind of characters would you personally enjoy playing?
A.I have already made it clear that I'm just not fit enough to play the macho man types of roles. My physique does not permit me to. I would love to play roles like Amol Palekar used to do in his films.

Q.Once you reach stardom would you still be so easy to talk to?
A.I'm here in this industry from the past three years and the way I have achieved success overnight I don't think anyone else has. When I haven't changed in these three years how do you think I will in future.

Q.You have surprised everyone by participating in Nach Baliye 4, what do you have to say about that?
A.When people saw me in my film they were surprised as well and wondered what I'm going to do in it. I always want to surprise my viewers in the same way.

Q.You have surprised everyone with your marriage also?
A.Actually when I got married most of my family members were not comfortable with the media. So I dint want any trouble for them as well as for the media. But I still don't know how I had this long queue outside my house just like the one outside Siddhi Vinayak temple. - Rajnee Gupta
