Dusky actress Chitrangada Singh, who returns to the big screen for Onir's "Sorry Bhai" after a three-year break, doesn't like to term her second innings as a "comeback", but as a "new beginning".

"I am barely two films old so my coming back to the industry with 'Sorry Bhai' is barely a comeback. It is a new beginning for me, " Chitrangada told in an interview here.

"Sorry Bhai" came her way just when she had started looking for work.

"'Sorry Bhai' pretty much happened by chance like 'Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi' happened to me. I was thinking about calling back people for some offers and I received a call from Onir for the role. He sent the script to me and I read it by the evening and called back to say I was in. The very next day he was at my place and I signed the contract, " she said.

Chitrangada plays Aaliyah in the film that also stars Boman Irani, Shabana Azmi, Sanjay Suri and Sharman Joshi.

Throwing light on her character, she said: "My role is of a simple girl who is in love with someone whom she only thinks she is in love with. There is a bit of a twist when she falls in love with her fiancé's younger brother.

"She is also an emotional girl and doesn't realise she is getting carried away by the situation, but in the end it is she who emerges to be the strongest of all the characters."

Chitrangada made her presence felt in Bollywood with her critically acclaimed debut in Sudhir Mishra's "Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi" (2003) and also due to her uncanny resemblance to yesteryear's actress Smita Patil.

She married golfer Jyoti Randhawa in 2005 and was next seen in box office dud "Kal: Yesterday and Tomorrow" following a sabbatical.

The actress admitted that she moved away from the limelight at the start of her career because she got cold feet over the fast pace in the film industry.

"There are a number of places you have to go as an actor and meet a number of people and I just didn't feel comfortable. I got cold feet.

There were a lot of scripts and too much work coming my way and I didn't know how to handle all of it at that time. I wasn't prepared. It's a different world out there. I wasn't sure what choices to make so I took a timeout, " she said.

So how did she keep busy during her break from the glam world?

"I was traveling with my husband and supporting his career. I was painting, buying art and trying to discover myself. I needed some space for myself and in the process I realised that nothing is as exciting as acting, " she said.

Chitrangada also dismissed rumours that her hiatus from Bollywood was because of her husband.

"My husband has been very much with me. He has all the way been very supportive and it was our mutual decision that I should come back to films, " the actress said.

For Chitrangada, scripts are top priority when it comes to choosing films.

"Every actor is selective. I have always been very selective about scripts and the director. It's not that I want a big banner or a big director but I want to play a character that makes me happy as I'm very passionate about cinema, " said Chitrangada, who would love to work with actors like Irrfan Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan if given a chance.

She will be seen next in Sudhir Mishra's "Aur Devdas", a modern take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel "Devdas", and she plays Chandramukhi.

Chitrangada also has Mishra's another untitled project in her kitty where she plays a courtesan. The film is slated to go on floors next year.
