The makers of the film, UTV Motion Pictures, have come up with a unique way to promote and create maximum awareness for their film.
Considering that Hindi films are huge among the NRI junta, UTV Motion Pictures along with Verizon Communications Inc. have come up with a Bollywood themed dance competition. The contest titled 'Bollypop' is open to all U.S. residents and is maintained by Saavn.com, the largest digital distributor of South Asian movies, music videos, audio tracks and ring-tones.
Contestants (individuals or dance troupes) need to upload a video of themselves dancing to a Bollywood song, which can be uploaded for free at www.verizon.com/bollypop.
Every week, people can watch featured videos submitted by contestants on the Asian Variety Show (AVS) television program, the most widely watched and longest running Bollywood news show in the United States.
Director Ken Ghosh and choreographer Marty Kudelka (who has worked with artists such as Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake) will select the winning video from the 10 most popular videos as voted by visitors at www.verizon.com/bollypop
The winner/s, of the dance contest's grand prize will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Mumbai in December and will appear in one of the dance sequences of the Shahid Kapoor starrer Yahoo. In addition to the trip to Mumbai and movie appearance, the grand-prize winner/s will also get a three-day trip to the New York City to attend a celebration in their honor.
