The film is based on the life and period of the renowned painter Raja Ravi Varma.
An adaptation of Ranjit Desai's Marathi novel on the painter, the film stars Randeep Hooda and Nandana Sen and will be
released in both English and Hindi aptly titled Rang Rasiya and Colours of Passion respectively. The much awaited masterpiece on Raja Ravi Varma will hit the screen very soon.
"The Prince among Painters, the Painter among Princes."- That's Raja Ravi Varma.
From sketching his imagination with charcoal on the walls of the Kilimanoor palace as a child, Raja Ravi Varma went on to
change the collective Indian imagination by giving its goddesses and women real faces, bodies and emotions.
His artistic vision extended beyond the canvas. He decreed to free art from the hold of the
temples and palaces and bring it to the common man.
Rang Rasiya is a legendary tale of Raja Ravi Verma, India's most celebrated painter. The film deals with the span of his life and relationship with his muse, Sugandha. Nandana Sen as the muse radiates the passion of
Randeep Hooda, as Raja Ravi Varma.
Manoj Muntashir has written six soulful songs in the film that are spellbindingly composed by Sandesh Shandilya, rendered by Sonu Nigam and Sunidhi Chauhan and others. The picture-postcard cinematography by
Bulgarian cinematographers Raltschev and Balakov translate the complexity of conflict in Ranjit Desai's narrative beautifully onto screen.
