Post HANUMAN, a majority of animation films may've sunk at the box-office, but Karan Johar sounds least perturbed. He continues to feel that there is immense scope for animation movies in India. "Notwithstanding
the recent setbacks, I strongly feel that animation films have tremendous scope in India, " Karan tells me.
He's gung-ho about KOOCHIE KOOCHIE HOTA HAI, the animation version of his hugely successful directorial debut KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI. And Karan has roped in the same stars of KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI to do
voiceovers for KOOCHIE KOOCHIE HOTA HAI.
"Shah Rukh, Kajol, Rani, Anupam Kher, even Sajid Khan and Ritesh Sidhwani have lent their voices for the film. I also made Simi Grewal dub for a character in
the film, " Karan divulges. What about Salman Khan? He was an integral part of KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI.
Will he lend his voice for its animated version? "I've roped in Sanjay Dutt for it, " he replies.
Meanwhile, Karan is ready with his new film DOSTANA, directed by first-timer Tarun Mansukhani. First Nikhil Advani, then Soham Shah, now Tarun Mansukhani. Also Ayan Mukherjee (directing Ranbir - Konkona in
WAKEUP SID). Why this penchant for new directors?
"New directors are brimming with ideas. They dare to tell innovative stories, they are ready to take risks, their confidence and energy is infectious... As
for Tarun, he has been with me right from KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI onwards. Besides, he's an extremely capable professional, " Karan states.
Karan is ready to start work on his new film MY NAME IS KHAN, starring SRK and Kajol. "Please don't expect a candyfloss entertainer. It's not based on terrorism either. It's about a husband-wife couple, their love
story... I can't divulge more at this juncture, " he adds.
