While brand Madhur has been created in the process, the film maker continues to be obsessed with telling different stories in his own experiment manner.
A fortnight after the release of the film, as he finally settles down to the fact that he has to move on to the next project, Madhur Bhandarkar talks about his biggest concern during the making of the film.
"In case of 'Fashion', my utmost concern was to make it work since mega bucks had gone into it. People thought that Madhur was good only for films that were made in the budget of 7-8 crores and I had to show that it wasn't the case.
Moreover, God forbid, if the film would have flopped, the same people would have said that it was one more flop of Priyanka Chopra this year", says Madhur Bhandarkar for whom 'Fashion' has been his costliest film till date.
Did he share these thoughts with Priyanka?
" (Smiles) In fact I had told this to Priyanka as well before the film's release and stated that expectations were sky high. Today, I am very happy for her and the entire team", says Madhur.
All said and done, a National Award in the offering yet again, isn't it? If not the film or Madhur, the film's central protagonist played by Priyanka Chopra definitely seems to be in line for one?
"I don't expect any awards for my films though if jury likes my film then well, great. Yes, Priyanka has done a very good job in the film and indeed deserves all the awards and acclaim coming her way.
As for National award, tomorrow there could be some films coming from South also that may prove to be a competition. Right from 'Chandni Bar' to 'Traffic Signal' as well, I haven't made films for awards", Madhur sets the record straight.
