Director Kundan Shah is currently finishing up films he originally ventured into previously. His last, Dil Hai Tumhaara, showed visible signs script wise of the delay, his next Ek Se Badkar Ek (once titled Kasamm Se) will hopefully not- though- it has been in the pipeline much longer than Dil Hai Tumhaara. A crime comedy caper, whereas Kundan Shah has stuck with romance and drama in his last three releases. Hopefully, he can deliver the goods he once did when he brought to life Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, something different with something quite regular. Like Chor Machaaye Shor, the film is a detailed journey through the character´s tribulations at getting the money. The son of a gardener (Sunil Shetty) has inherited a large sum of money (400 Rs. crores to be exact). To get get it, he must get his inheritance papers approved by his lawyer (Shekar Suman). Sunil eventually does as he happily embarks on his way to the life of the rich and famous.

However, there is one clause in his inheritance. Before he can actually obtain the money he must acquire the status of the biggest and bad mobster of the town that he lives in. Sunil is astonished by this inane clause but realizes that the money is quite worth it. When Shekhar examines the papers he realizes that he has made a mistake and has given Sunil the wrong inheritance papers, and that Sunil´s clause was not to become a don, but rather that the money would be sent to him immediately following the death of his father.

Shekhar now realizes he has made a big blunder and that if he says anything his chances of getting any part of Sunil´s inheritance are gone. Rather, he now believes that if he can help Sunil become a don in order to acquire the money, he will be in store for a generous portion of it.Sunil now takes the appropriate measures to become the biggest mobster ever, however he must do this without the neighbor (Raveena Tandon), who is a bad police officer, knowing. This becomes a difficult task as Raveena is Sunil´s true source of groceries, etc., even though the two usually do not get along and are constantly bickering. Sunil must go about his business of conducting faux underground crime without letting Raveena in on the fun, because even though she is a bad police officer who can´t get her job done right, she is still a police officer.

Sunil still unaware that the inheritance papers indicated no such clause, now has to become the biggest don. And to do so, he must rob banks, kidnap people and do all the good stuff that mobsters do. With Shehkar as his helper, and the goofed up cop Raveena as his enemy can he make it out rich? Kundan Shah had previously mentioned that he has focused more on laughter in Ek Se Badkar Ek. The aim is not on making the action or robbery scenes look extremely stylish (ala Awara Paagal Deewana) but, to get the scenes shot with the right amount of humour, with an end goal of producing laughs. And according to the inside reports, he has. Interestingly enough, Sunil Shetty and Raveena Tandon have both been successful with comedy. This will be Shekhar Suman´s next after he rose laughter with his seven characters in David Dhawan´s Chor Machaaye Shor. But this time he won´t be the character playing three roles, Makrand Deshpande will. Asrani and Gulshan Grover head the cast for character artistes with the latter playing a real don.
