A popular name down South, she has worked in close to 20 movies down there across all languages - Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Now she is glad that she is able to do a film in Hindi language as well.
Also, the best part is that while appearing in a Bollywood flick, she changes her persona in a way as required by a conventional Hindi film heroine.
"I am glad that I am able to get the right look in place based on the language of the film", says Sada who makes her Bollywood debut opposite Nikhil Dwivedi (MY NAME IS ANTHONY GONSALVES), "Even when I started my career with a South film in Telugu language, everyone there thought that I was a Telugu girl.
My next movie had me play a proper Brahmin Iyengar film and once I got into my attire, the common perception was that I am a Tamilian. Ditto was the case in my Malyalam film too."
However, not many are aware that Sada basically belongs to Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, and her mother tongue is Hindi.
"Isn't it funny", laughs Sada, "People have a misconception that I originally hail from South due to my movies down there. Now as I appear in a 'Konkani' costume for KHALLBALLI, I am sure what's going to be the next question! However, the good part is that in KHALLBALII, I actually get to wear quite a few different costumes."
Going by the promos, she is looking fabulous in her Western attire, especially in the music video of the title song of KHALLBALLI!
"All credit to Shankarji (director of ANNIYAN which was later dubbed into APARICHIT) that today I am confident of pulling off a Western attire too. I wasn't sure about that before I did this film since I was only playing homely characters.
Thanks to him because he helped me become more confident about myself. He had a different vision for me and it worked. Otherwise I was quite skeptical about it to begin with", Sada reveals.
A film that boasts of 32 comic actors coming together on one single platform as it's USP, KHALLBALLI - FUN UNLIMITED releases all over on 5th December. - Joginder Tuteja
