The project has gone through some radical changes. The original director admaker Shamim Desai has been replaced by Jassi Walia. Desai who was Dino Morea's business partner at one time was also relieved of his his duties from Dino whose first production Desai was supposed to direct.
"My brother Jassi who's studied filmmaking in New York is directing Gangs Of London now, " confirms producer Bunty Walia. "Jassi has been researching the various ethnic gangs of London and their looks. And he has come up with this incredible look for Sanjay."
Apparently Dutt who is rapidly losing weight is still to lose the paunch. But by the time Gangs Of London starts shooting in July Dutt is expected to say farewell to all the flab.
Informs Walia, "While we had used Sanju's salt-and-pepper bearded look in Lamhaa earlier for Mr Bachchan in Ek Ajnabee, the look we've designed for Sanju in Gangs Of London has never been tried before."
Dutt plays the leader of the 'Khalsa' gang in a London neighbourhood which protects the Asian community in from drug abuse and prostitution. Bobby Deol is expected to play Dutt's brother. Also confirmed for Gangs Of London are Suniel Shetty, Shaad Randhawa, Dino Morea and Tusshar Kapoor. All of them play members of Dutt's gang.
And if Shabina Khan has styled Dutt's salt-and-pepper look in Lamhaa it's Arjun Khanna providing the deadly Dutt with an all-leather chains-and-boots look for Gangs Of London.
There's just one problem with sporting an all-specific as-per-film look. Dutt can't shoot for any other film.
Two songs of Ajay Chandok Chattur Singh 2 Star are pending until Dutt finishes shooting Lamhaa with his film-specific new look.
And now it would be the 'Khalsa' look that would keep Dutt bound to one project.
Chuckles Walia, "It's not so much a Catch 22 situation for Sanju as it is a Catch-Dutt situation for me. By giving him a specific look I'm making sure I can hold on to his attention and dates at one stretch with no distractions."
