It was only after a thorough investigation was done by the doctors for full four days that he was allowed to leave the hospital. Up and running today, he recollects the horrific phase that he went through once he suffered the attack.
"I was in Cuttack when this happened. I had come back to the 'Green Room' feeling a little tired but didn't really anticipate that it could get worse.
I just collapsed and the next thing I knew was getting some initial treatment in Cuttack itself. I was moved to Mumbai soon after and admitted to Lilavati hospital. It was quite a torrid time for my family since venturing out in a public place was not really called for, especially after the horrific time that Mumbai had just gone through", remembers Pritam.
"Once I was in hospital, the doctors did an entire check up of me from head to toe. The tests went on for full four days and it was only after they were convinced that I could be on my own did they allow me to leave.
Doctors tell me that this happened due to heavy stress and exhaustion. They have put me on medication. I guess I will have to be more disciplined about my working hours now. They have been crazy otherwise."
How about kicking his smoking habit, as a chain smoker, he is known to be putting down 50 odd sticks a day?
"Yeah, I know it is bad. Each of the doctors out there was unanimous in stating that I had to get rid of the stick fast. I have been trying to reduce the volume but am not too sure whether I would be able to get rid of it completely.
People close to me tell me that they were more scared than me when I suffered the attack. May be at least for their sake, I will make a conscious effort to stay away from smoking", he promises.
Now that he is back on his feet, one wonders how his hospital admission didn't make any news. After all celebrities are known for making headlines even if they go out to have their kids vaccinated?
"Ok, now you are really exaggerating the entire thing", he says after a hearty laugh, "Come on, yeh sab star logon ke saath hota hai. I am not a star yaar!"
