The title goes as - Karz - The Burden Of Truth. But then the question is WHY?? How can some `karz` be a burden? All such questions are answered in this Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Shilpa Shetty starrer which is produced by Kaushal Godha and directed by Harry Baweja. Harry Baweja has had some impressive lineup of movies behind him - notable being Dilwaale, Diljale, Deewane etc. Most of his earlier ventures have a backdrop of romance but this flick seems to be a hardcore actioner. Let us see how the songs fare in K-TBOT that has music by Sanjeev Darshan and lyrics by Sameer.
The trio of Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty and Shilpa Shetty feature in an average party love song - Shaam Bhi Khoob Hai. Sung by Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, it is not very exciting and somehow disappoints a s it is placed as the first number of the album. To prolong the boredom, it is feature twice in the album. But the next number `Meri Mehbooba Hai Tu` is pleasant to the ears. Though the album cover mentions Abhijeet and Kumar Sanu, you hear only Kumar Sanu in the song. Another surprising thing is to hear both Abhijeet and Kumar Sanu in the promo of the same number which is on the air !!!
But leaving such discrepancies aside, the number is quite good and is about two friends (Sunny and Suneil) who are discussing their lady love. Watching the two Shettys together on screen remind of the outing they had together in Dhadkan. After `Baba Ki Raani Hoon` from APBKDH, another lullaby kind number arrives in Karz in the shape of `So Gayi Ye Zameen` by Anuradha Paudwal. A welcome number in a hardcore actioner like Karz, it is pretty surprising as well because hardly are such songs composed these days.
It is a soothing number and holds good till it lasts. Similar composition in the voice of Kumar Sanu is presented as `So Gayi Hai Zameen` by Kumar Sanu, which is fine as well. Another melodious number is `Mohabbat Hui Hai`. Though the lyrics are somewhat run of the mill; what with routine stuff like - `Mohabbat Hui Hai Magar Chori Chori`, huhh !! Kumar Sanu and Sandeev Darshan regular Kavita Krishnamurthy sing this mushy number which may not set the chats ablaze but still manage to stay afloat.
Two masala numbers - Jhoom Jhoom Naa and Aashique Ban Ke are aimed to be rip roaring in which the latter comes as a winner. Former which is sung by Sukhwinder and Hema Dardesai is just OK and is more like an item number than a love song. A poppish track, it just comes and goes but it is `Aashique Ban Ke` by Adnan Sami and Kavita Krishanmurthy that may help the album sales go up. Lyrics by Abbas are routine but it is the treatment of this fast track with sizzling Shilpa and the brawny Suneil Shetty that is impressive. Overall Karz has 2-3 good numbers and a few average ones that may help the album to do an average business.
