Varied subjects are being attempted. And this trend is truly gaining impetus with many recent films defying the stereotype. The President Is Coming is one more film that betrays conventional thinking.

The President Is Coming, helmed by debutante director Kunaal Roy Kapur, is a rib-tickling story about the President's visit to India and the Indian youth.

In fact, it's the first-ever 'mockumentary' that lampoons Bush and also the desi youth. The humor here is very tongue-in-cheek and even though the making is amateurish, you can't help but break into guffaws at several points.

Set against President Bush's visit to India, the film looks at the behind-the-scenes drama that occurs in the U.S. Consulate, which has been entrusted the responsibility of choosing an ideal Indian youth to shake hands with the President.

The film promises plenty of laughs from the word go. Right from the introduction of each character to their interaction inside the Consulate, the sequences are simply howlarious. Director Kunaal Roy Kapur knows what he's talking and for a first-timer, makes a remarkable debut.

As far as performances are concerned, every actor in this enterprise stands out. Of course, Konkona Sen Sharma dominates the show. Shernaz Patel is excellent.

On the whole, The President Is Coming offers laughter aplenty and that is its biggest USP. Recommended for the multiplex junta.
