A Nasik court has issued a non-bailable warrants against thespian Dilip Kumar, his brother Ahsan Khan and two others in a criminal case relating to alleged "land grabbing." The warrant was issued after the four failed to appear before the court. They have now been asked to appear in court on August 9.
Complainant Meerabai, widow of freedom fighter late Shivram Khanderao Borate, alleged that the actor had "grabbed" nineteen acres of land belonging to Borate in Dudgaon village near Trimbakeshwar, after making a provisional agreement paying Rs 3,000.
She also alleged that Dilip Kumar had approached talathi Sukdev Tajanpure and circle officer Ratnakar Shirsat to get the property registered in his name and transfer the land to his brother.
A lower court, however, cancelled the provisional agreement, but a district court had upheld the actor`s appeal in 1987. Following an appeal against the district court ruling, the Bombay High Court stayed the verdict in 1996.
