India's pride A R Rahman was there on the red carpet along with Danny Boyle, representing the 'Slumdog Millionaire' team.
'The Wrestler' star Mickey Rourke who has reportedly been signed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Forst/Nixon's Frank Langella was there along with Penelope Cruz, Anne Hathaway, Marisa Tomei and Kate Winslet.
Kate Winslet who has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in 'The Reader' said, "You know that I have been here so many times and have lost so many times that quite honestly, I have a really good losing face. I have sort of perfected that strange Zen blank calm that you have to have in the moment when they do not call out your name."
We wish the best for Rahman but Kate Winslet's words should be of use for him and every other nominee.
On another note London based hip hop artiste of Tamilian origin MIA who's also known as Mathangi 'Maya' Arulpragasam has been nominated for both the Oscars and the Grammy awards this year. Grammy awards will be given away on February 8.
She has been nominated for two Grammy's -'Record of the Year for Paper Planes' and 'Best Rap Song for Swagga Like US'.
She's also in the race for the Best song Oscar along with A R Rahman for the track 'O Saya' from 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
She's said, "You know for me it is like having the most expensive video made and by Danny Boyle who I happen to be a fan. I kind of did it because I thought it would be good for like A R Rahman and the people of India and the Tamil people to be like – oh she is doing something for us. At the same time over here it works and it is an amazing movie."
Must say it's nice to see the Indian presence felt like that way at the Oscars!
