Billu is a thorough gentle-man but his tongue is as straight and sharp as a butcher's knife. For instance: Billu can even ask a Government officer in writing if he will take bribe.

Lara Dutta as Bindiya
Bindiya is Billu's wife. She is talkative, adores her husband and family

Shah Rukh Khan as Saahir Khan
Saahir Khan is the Superstar with a huge fan following all over. He comes to shoot for a film in Billu's village Budbuda. Coincidentally, he happens to be Billu's childhood friend

Om Puri as Sahukaar Daanchand
Sahukaar Daanchand is a crook. If a normal person hears his rate of interest, he would die instantly and if he survives and takes the loan, Daanchand's crooked ways of recovering money will kill him for sure. Daanchand sweet-tongues Billu for taking a loan, but Billu denies the offer politely every time.

Rajpal Yadav as Zallan Kumar 'Budbudiya'
Zallan Kumar 'Budbudiya' is the poet of the village. He is known for writing poetry though he is not too good at it. Zallan Kumar 'Budbudiya' often sits in Billu's saloon, reciting horrible poems, lamenting people's loss of patronage for such a great poet.

Asrani as Naubat Chacha
Naubatchacha has a tea-snack-stall besides Billu's saloon. He is a genuine, warm hearted person and comes handy in crisis. He knows that Billu is a hard-working guy; it's just that the times are bad for him.

Mitali as Gunja and Pratik as Duggu
Gunja and Duggu have inherited their father's sarcasm and mother's talkativeness.

Manoj Joshi as Damodar Dube
Damodar Dube is a nosy, corrupt school-manager who thinks he is a big shot.
