It is a welcome change from the past three seasons. Unlike the past seasons when only two contestants went to the finals, this time the Top Three finalists will fight it out for the title of Indian Idol.
And going into the Finals of Season Four of Indian Idol this year are Sourabhee Debbarma, Kapil Thapa and Torsha Sarkar. It is also the first time on the show that two girls will vie for the top honour along with a guy.
All three contestants whose lives have changed got a taste of their newfound success only recently when they went back home after 6 months in Mumbai.
The reception they got in their hometowns is one they had not even imagined in their wildest dreams - hordes of people thronging the airport, the motorcade to their humble abodes and the cheering locals & fans who greeted them, wherever they went.
When they left home six months ago they were known only to their family, friends and neighborhood. Today they are household names not only in their home towns but in the whole country and overseas as well.
"We are mini celebrities!" Sourabhee had exclaimed some months ago when she saw their faces adorn the back of a BEST bus. Today, she is yet to recover from her celebrity status – even the royal family of Agartala is amongst her biggest fans! Will Sourabhee achieve her dream of being a rock star?
Kapil Thapa, a shy, young man whose only claim to fame was that he and his brothers had followed his father into the Army.
He had taken part in Indian Idol after being inspired by Prashant Tamang's achievement last year. Today, he stands on the threshold of repeating that feat himself! His regiment is waiting with bated breath as Kapil walks the last lap of Indian Idol. Will Kapil Thapa be the next Indian Idol?
For Torsha Sarkar, life is beautiful. The reserved girl who barely had any friends until she came to Indian Idol is today the singing diva of the show. Today the bold and beautiful Torsha has come a long way.
The call of the big, beautiful city now beckons this diva who has always nurtured dreams of living a glamorous life. Will Torsha be the glamour girl in the music industry?
Will a girl win the title this year? The voting lines are opened until March 1... so don't stop voting, your vote will help choose the winner.
Catch the Grand finale of Indian Idol as it goes live on March 1, 2009 in a grand, musical extravaganza which will bring together for one last time all the Top 14 finalists of Indian Idol Season 4.
