Sudhir Mishra's ‘Aur Devdas' was a much ambitious project until Anurag Kashyap's ‘Dev D' happened.
The filmmaker has now taken the script to Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar and is now making the same project with a
new cast.
A source has reportedly revealed, " ‘Aur Devdas' was another take on the famous novel by Sarat Chandra and it went into
production along with Anurag Kayshap's Dev D. Shiney Ahuja, Chitrangada Singh and Lara Dutta were in the cast. It was
being produced by Pritish Nandy Communications. Now as things stand, Mishra has told PNC that he will make another film
with them with the same star cast."
The source continues, "Mishra always wanted big stars to act in his interpretation of Devdas and when he was casting earlier,
he desired Rani Mukerji to play Paro.
He met Farhan, who has become a hot property after Rock On!! to play the
title role and that's when Farhan offered to produce it too.
Mishra then gave a narration to Kareena who liked the
script instantly and agreed to be a part of it. Mishra is not going to keep the title of the film the same. He is also looking for
another actress from the big league to play Chandramukhi."
Ritesh Sidhwani however says that this movie with Farhan is not called ‘Aur Devdas' and it's a whole new film with Mishra.
Well, we'll come to know when the film sees the light of the day. We just hope the film will not be too complicated to
decipher.
