He may not have so far done it in his real life but Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh is all set to play home minister in a Bollywood film.

"The offer to act as home minister has come to me from none other than Bollywood veteran Dev Anand in his forthcoming film 'Chargesheet', " Amar Singh told reporters in an informal chat at his residence here.

Describing himself as a "Dev Anand fan", he said, "It is an honour for me to play the role."

Amar Singh was flanked by film star-turned-Samajwadi Party nominee for the Lucknow Lok Sabha seat Sanjay Dutt, who arrived here Saturday to launch his poll campaign.

When a journalist asked Sanjay Dutt if he will give Amar Singh some lessons in acting, he shot back: "Amar Singhji does not need any training. He is adept in everything."
