Just till few months back, the satellite rights of a film even if it was a major dud at the box office would fetch handsome revenues for its makers.

A hit film would fetch anywhere between Rs. 12-18 crore from the channels. A flop film starring big names and produced by big banners too would fetch anywhere between Rs. 7 to 8 crore.

Akshay Kumar who had a rollicking time at the box office in 2007-08 was in an enviable position in comparison to his contemporaries as his films would fetch on an average Rs. 13-15 crore.

His 2008's super hit Singh Is Kinng was reportedly sold for Rs. 15 crore. But with the ongoing recession and one super flop - Chandni Chowk To China, the tables have turned up on Akki. We found out how

Our trade sources have revealed, "With the satellite rights market having crashed, the scene has changed drastically even for someone like Akshay Kumar.

Now believe it or faint, the satellite rights of his last release, CC2C have fetched a meagre Rs. 4 crore. But if that is not shocking enough, here's more – this price is for five years and not just one year which the general norm is. That apart a big part of the payment is deferred as well!"

Does this mean the party for Akshay Kumar is over? Perhaps only time will tell.
