After all those actresses screaming from rooftops about their untapped talent or drawing the attention of the media to take them seriously, it`s the turn of the Ramu-campwalli, Urmila Matondkar. "I have been very choosy about my characters and would like to do just one film at a time," she has been announcing to the world.
Her next line up of releases, though are pretty interesting. What with two of her mentor, guide and philosopher Ram Gopal Varma`s films – Bhoot and Ek Haseena Thi – on the floors and another period drama, Pinjar, hitting the theatres this year, the Maharashtrian actress is pretty excited. And why shouldn`t she be? She is going to compete with arch rivals, Karisma, Raveena and Manisha all over again with a host of hardcore commercial and parallel movies.
Trying to strike a balance, Urmi? Do you realise that even in the so called middle-of-the-road cinema, you are made to either pout, prance around or simple sizzle in sexy song sequences? To be able to outdo Tabu, or even a Raveena, don`t you think there`s much more to exhibit, than just one`s body?
