Britain-born Indian actress Parminder Nagra risked her parents' wrath as a teenager when she refused to agree to an arranged marriage.

The "Bend It Like Beckham" and "ER" star was shown a photo of a mystery man when she was 18 and told by her mother he was her future husband. But the shocked teenager flatly refused to be forced into marriage with a man chosen by the parents, reports contactmusic.com.

"When I was 18, my mother gave me a photo of a man and said I'd marry him. I told her then I was never going to have an arranged marriage. No one has ever forced me to do anything against my will, " she said.
