You need to lose some to win some, as the adage goes. And for Nikhil Dwivedi to win a role in none other than Mani Ratnam's film Ravana, he will have to lose his hair!

Well, what we mean is, sources said that Mani Ratnam thought he might fit the role of Laxman in his prestigious venture Ravana. Nikhil was then asked to come down to Chennai for a look test. Nikhil's look was approved, only he had to cut his hair short.

Even though Nikhil was supposed to start shooting for Shivam Nair's film, he agreed to cut his crop just for Mani sir and since the role meant a big thing to him.

And guess what, it was New Year's eve, that is the 31st of December when he went to Chennai and by the time he finished his meeting and got back to Mumbai, it was past 12 am that is New Year's day!

So, the role for Nikhil is a New Year's gift. And, of course, what makes it even worthier is the fact that Nikhil is achieving all this solely on his own merit, what with having no godfather or filmi connection to help him.

To bag biggies like Mani Ratnam's films without any help is definitely a big achievement.
