"I was on a political break for few months. I did that consciously as it was difficult for me to stay in and out at that point of time. It would have been too hectic for me, " says Smriti.
Elaborating on the storyline and her character in the show, she states, "It's a simple and sweet story of a lady who hails from Gujarat. She is 8th std fail and is proud about it. Her hubby was working as a diamond polisher in a particular company. Things changed when this family shits to Mumbai."
"Now in the city they stay at a posh place and has lots of wealth. How Mainben regulates with the society, the changes that takes place is what the show is all about, " she adds further.
Her look is very similar to that of Tulsi. On being compared she said, "I have done all possible shades for Tulsi. It has been a funny bone till my hair grew white and I lost my sense of humour. But I think more than a character, people have accepted me as an actor and that's what matter the most."
This show is an adaptation from the Gujarati play and had been successful. "We are hoping for the same success on small screen, " she concludes.
