Urmila Matondkar was a child artist when she first acted with Shabana Azmi in Masoom. And now, after 20 years they are acting together again in Khalid Mohammad's Tehzeeb. Urmila concedes that she is nervous about facing the camera with Shabana Azmi. "Earlier, I was too young and did not know what acting was all about. But today, when I am myself an actress I am jittery about acting with Shabana ji," Urmila is quoted to have said.

Urmila calls Shabana "one of the finest in the world." But she also wants to use the opportunity of acting with Shabana to learn more about the skill and craftsmanship before the camera. She says she wants to test her own limits as an actress in front of her. Tehzeeb features the Shabana and Urmila as a confrontational mother and daughter. The film also has Arjun Rampal playing the man Urmila wants to marry and who mama Shabana doesn`t approve of.
