His beard metamorphed him into the God of Indian TV. Bachchan has been sporting the goatee since he started shooting for Rakesh Mehra`s Aks. When he started hosting the game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, the goatee became a part of his personality.

To maintain continuity, Bachchan retained it. It became so much a part of his persona that in all films thereafter like Aankhen, Hum Kissise Kum Nahin and Kaante, one got to see him in the same avatar. It transpires that for Rajkumar Santoshi`s Khaki, Bachchan will sacrifice his goatee. The mahurat of the film has been postponed, so that Bachchan can shave it off once he finishes shooting for Ravi Chopra`s Baghbaan.
