2009 up till now hasn't been a great year for Bollywood films. There are heavy expectations from upcoming biggies and Bollywood is expecting to create new records to wipe out their old losses. But just days back a
unique record of sorts came into light for the first time in Bollywood history.
A trade insider revealed, "Four films released together on Friday 12th June – the heavily hyped Kal Kissne Dekha, Claudia Ciesla starrer Karma Crime Passion Reincarnation, Sayali Bhagat's Kitkit + Cricket = Kirkit
and Girish Girija Joshi's children's film Zor Lagaa Ke... Haiya.
So what is the record in that if you may ask then well they all turned out to be commercial disasters at the box office which is probably a record
of sorts as it is very unlikely that we have had four releases on the same day which all turned out to be complete losers.
So it has been termed a record of sorts but an unwanted one. Never before in
Bollywood had all the multiple releases on a single day flopped together. Either one of them have been a better grosser to be termed a money maker. But unfortunately nothing of that sorts happened this time."
Generally a commercial disaster is defined by a film that loses 50% or more of its investment. According to trade estimates all of last weeks releases have lost more than 70% of their investment."
