Lanky Pooja finds no men of her size

Lanky lumbering Pooja Batra's exceptional height is costing her too much. There are no lanky heroes in Bombay to match her. This could be the reason that producers think twice before signing her. But, she is not bothered and thinks her leggy self is something to be proud of. Excerpts from an interview: :

Q. What could be the reason behind your slow career progress?
Ans. There could be many reasons. People here do not want to take risk of making novel and unique movies. All are busy shooting on hackneyed plots and topics in which I am least interested. Secondly, I could not perhaps cash upon my success in "Virasat". Another reason of course is that producers find it difficult to find tall heroes who could jell with me.

Q. Are you satisfied with career progress?
Ans. I know I can perform better but still I am definitely happy with what I am doing. My career is on right track. What ever work I am handling gives me lot of happiness.

Q. How you bagged Akbar Khan's "Taj Mahal"?
Ans. Producer-director Mr Akbar Khan himself approached me. I was thrilled to hear about my role in "Taj Mahal". I am to act as Noorjahan. For any actress, it would be a matter of pride for stepping into the shoes of Noorjahan.

Q. Do you actually know anything about Noorjahan?
Ans. I have been a keen student of history. I do know little bit about Noorjahan but I am collecting more details about her life style etc from various books. Mr Akbar Khan has worked very hard on the script and it reveals lots of things hitherto unheard about Noorjahan.

Q. After you broke away your relationship with Akshay, you had declared that you would not work with him. So why are you acting with him in Talaash?
Ans. True that we broke our relationship... and we broke away with consent...no hurt feelings now. May be at that time I was upset when I spoke about not doing films with Akshay. He is a fine artist. Why should I be stupid? Why should I not work with Akshay? I still value and cherish the time when we were going along well. Those sweet memories...never mind if later everything went sour...but that sweetness needs to be remembered in the days to come as well.

Q. People say that story line "Talash" resembles your real life?
Ans. It is all media creation. Only thing is that my role in the movie is somewhat different. Once you see the movie, you will realise that there is no truth about resemblance in Talash's reel life and my real life.

Q. How does Twinkle behave with you when you meet each other on sets?
Ans. Apart from meeting on sets, I often meet Twinkle in parties. She now knows that Akshay's relationship with me is purely professional these days. Earlier, when ever there used to be group photograph (Akshay included), she used to stand at a distance. I used to try to drag her for the photograph. Twinkle is part of the industry and she fully knows about the reality.

Q. Don't you think that to fetch roles for yourself you lack proper reach?
Ans. I am not a person with too many desires. I can not lobby to get roles. My public relations officer is also not very effective. I do not believe in manipulation nor can I run after producers and directors to get roles. I will not do all this.

Q. But it is important for show-biz to keep in touch.
Ans. True, I must have lost some work by not keeping in touch. But, then I have no grudges...at least I am at peace with myself...I do what ever I want to do in life.
