Armaan is directorial debut of Honey Irani, who turned quite a few heads when she penned down Lamhe for Yash Chopra. Javed Akhtar teams up with her ex-wife as dialogue writer and lyricist while Shankar Ehsaan Loy composes the music for the film. Set in the backdrop of hospital, the film revolves around the life of doctors. It has quite an impressive star cast to it's credit too including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Randhir Kapoor and Gracy Singh.
The album begins with "Mere Dil Ka Tumse Hai Kehna" rendered excellently by Chitra and features Preity Zinta onscreen. The song has Arabian zing to it and makes a good listening. The next track is ‘Tu hi Bata zindagi' sung by Roop Kumar Rathod. It is a serious but well orchestrated track. Shreya Ghosal also renders few lines in the song and she does it quite impressively.
"Aao Milke Gayen Aisa Gaan" is a dance number sung collectively by Udit Narayan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shankar Mahadevan and Big B. Between ‘Aao Milke Gaayen' and "Main Gaaon Tum Gao" are a few dialogues about winning and losing in life by Big B himself. Main Gaaon tum Gao is sung with ample joy by Udit Narayan, Mahalaxmi Iyer, Shaan and newcomer Bhairavi Kumble.
‘Jugalbandi' is an instrumental track. It is a fusion of classical and western with violin as main instrument. A good track for the fusion lovers, which may not really appeal to the masses. ‘Jaane Yeh Kya Ho Gaya' by Shankar Mahadevan and Alka Yagnik is a romantic duet. Javed akhtra does a good job for it's lyrics. Again, like most of the other numbers of Armaan, it takes some time to settle down but thereon is impressive.
Sonu Nigam and sings Sunidhi Chauhan ‘Meri Zindagi Mein Aaye Ho'. It is catchy song with the sweet and simple flavour to it. Shankar Ehsaan Loy do it very right this time around. Over all Shankar Ehsaan Loy deliveres a good music to this star studded film, which goes down well with the young audienece..
