It is learnt Shah Rukh is playing the character of Rizvan Khan who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome, which is an autism disorder and is characterised by difficulties in social interaction and behaviour.
There was a buzz that the film is based on terrorism and 9/11 attacks but Shah Rukh refuted the rumours and said "My Name Is Khan is the most special film for both Karan Johar and me. And unlike the rumors, it's not about terrorism, or 9/11.
It's about a relationship between two people, between an individual and the State, and between an individual and the country. In short, there the three important components: love story, Islam and a mild form of autism, which forms the core of My Name Is Khan."
The last time Shah Rukh was mired in controversies with the title of his film Billoo Barber. When quizzed about the title of My Name Is Khan, the King Khan replied, "I could have made My Name is Shah Rukh. But this not a self promotion vehicle The name of the Movie is relevant to the story that Karan and screenplay writer Shibani Bhatija have visualized."
Considering the subject borders around Islam, and a sensitive ailment like autism Shah Rukh and Karan Johar have already taken precautions "Yes, we have been sensitive to the issues we have touched upon. Every care has been taken. We have experts involved in all aspects of the film. Our endeavor is not to create any controversy" he added.
He's played Kabir Khan in Chak De and now Rizwan Khan... Which is closer to his heart? "I give each part of me, with each character I play on screen. I am attached to all of them. But yes, Rizwaan is special because I had to hone my acting skills for it. So naturally it is closer to my heart than rest, " he concluded.
