Like one Salman Khan was not enough to pester her, the whole new breed of scribes have started writing foul about this damsel in distress. This time around the bone of contention is not the muscle flexing Khan himself but very strangely Aishwarya's look, make up and jewellery at the Cannes International film festival.

Dressed in shimmering pink and wearing sparkling diamonds, a resplendent Aishwarya Rai was the cynosure of all eyes at the opening ceremony of the 56th International Cannes Film Festival at the Palais de Festival but critics are seeing the red. They have started panning her wardrobe as atrocious, loud, gaudy, and flashy.

Part of the festival's prestigious jury, Rai is seen attending the premiere of Gérard Krawczyk's FanFan La Tulipe, which enjoyed an out-of-competition screening like Devdas did last year. This is Rai's second visit to Cannes. She was there last year with Devdas director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and co-star Shah Rukh Khan to publicise the film.
