Rani is riding high as everyone seems to be going gaga over her, after Saathiya. She's spent most of last year wrapping up the Aziz Mirza-directed Chalte Chalte, an interesting celluloid take on matrimony And, of course, she's also got entangled in a cold war with once-buddy Aishwarya Rai. "I was the original choice in Chalte Chalte but Ash signed up because I had date troubles. When Shah Rukh approached me for Chalte Chalte I was relatively free and more than happy to step in.", she says.
Chalte Chalte is an emotional drama tackling the new age marriages. But the good thing about the film is that it has transformed Rani into new style queen of the Bollywood. Manish Malhotra has also played around with Rani Mukherjee's looks in the film, where she plays an interior designer. Mumbai-based hair stylist Dilshad has cut her hair four inches shorter and it's wavy now. She has kohl-eyes, a look that was worked upon by Manish with make up artist Micky Contractor. The wardrobe has also undergone a drastic change with a chic look and judging by the reaction Rani received, Manish has done it again.
