David's latest venture is film ‘Do Knot Disturb' which yet again stars Govinda along with Sushmita Sen, Lara Dutta and Ritesh Deshmukh. ‘DKD' is produced by Vashu Bhagnani.
‘DKD' also marks the comeback of trio David Dhawan, Govinda and Vashu Bhagnani after 10 years. In a latest conversation with media, David discusses about his film, his favorite genre- comedy and of course his association with Govinda.
Elaborate on film ‘Do Knot Disturb'?
‘Do Knot Disturb' is an out-and-out comedy film. It has a romantic angle too. In other words, it is a comeback vehicle of typical ‘Govinda, David Dhawan and Vashu Bhagnani' films.
You have never deviated from comedy. Why did you explore in other genres?
Comedy is my forte, and I feel I can do justice to it. Moreover, I love making films under this genre. Considering the audiences who prefer light-hearted, feel good kind of films, it was an intentional decision to stick to this genre. There is too much of sorrow, pain and seriousness in one's life. So I don't believe in portraying the same on-screen.
You share a special association with Govinda. What's your take on him and other stars in the film?
(Smiles), Govinda is my soul-mate, my partner in crime and partner in success. I have worked with Lara and Sushmita too in the past.
And vouch on their acting capabilities, which give a reason to cast them again and again. It's only Ritesh, I am working for the first time and trust me he is too good with comic timing. He is going to be the most lovable character in the film.
If you need to pick one from Sushmita and Lara, who will you prefer as a lead actress in your next movie?
Both are good and conventional in their own way. Sushmita is up-rooted in all genres but she has yet not achieved what she deserves. On other hand, Lara has improvised a lot from the time she had begun.
You have featured a song-sequence ‘Bebo...' And has it anything to do with Kareena Kapoor whose nickname is Bebo?
It is a household name in Punjab. And once you watch the film you will get to know the mystery.
When will audience be able to see sequel of ‘Partner'?
Salman's dates are unavailable which is the only reason for the delay. However, I have no regrets; it will be a sheer treat to wait because Salman and Govinda are the soul of the film.
What are the other projects in the pipeline?
‘Tom and Jerry' and ‘Hook ya Crook' are some films I have been working on.
